After much debate, I think I've finalized my project to be a series of collage art pieces. I want my collages to carry themes of current issues that women face in today's world (e.g. sexism, male gaze) as well as address the "his-story" issue. I also want these collages to not be about solely American women, but maybe tell stories of women all around the world.
Some inspirations for these collage pieces are works of female artists that I have looked up online. Artists include Hannah Höch, Eileen Agar, Nancy Spero, Jesse Treece and Annegret Soltau.
Finally, I want my collages to not only be images of magazine cutouts. I will use images from the internet, images of famous/historical art and famous/historical quotes.
I like this idea very much and am excited to see it come together. I think the artist examples that you chose are very good. I wish you had elaborated more in this proposal and included images to help illustrate your ideas. You should look at the work of Martha Rosler and Wangechi Mutu http://wangechimutu.com/ as well.
