Semester Project/ Jaleesa McEachin

Good Afternoon!

My semester project was to create a page web page for a young lady that will enhance her brand. I believe that this page will help her with public relations for continued success with her career. I had the opportunity to meet this young lady last year while attending Rutgers University. While engaging in countless conversation I was truly impressed with her as a young African American woman.  Her name is Jaleesa McEachin, she was born in Newark, NJ on June 26, 1988. She is a Poet, Author, Motivational Speaker, Actress and Mentor. Jaleesa has appeared in movies such as Iniquity and Clipped Wings, and They Do Fly. She was casted as an extra in the Berkeley College commercial “Going Far”. Jaleesa is the author of the book Poetic Inner Me and has performed on many stages including The Crossroads Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Ms. McEachin has performed in theatrical productions including “Hallelujah Chorus”, There’s ATrain Ah Comin”, The Penile Conversation and “A Raisin in the Sun”. She is an advocate for the youth, participating as the mentor of the P.O.P.C.O.R.N Kidz in Irvington, NJ, founded by Sandra Hayward. Jaleesa has worked with countless organizations and has lent her talents too many programs throughout the tri-state area and beyond. Jaleesa will hopefully have the opportunity to travel to Senegal this summer to mentor youth in the performing arts. Jaleesa McEachin is a recent graduate of Essex County College, where she received an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. While attending Essex County College, she was a part of the Hip Hop Student Association as well as becoming a keynote Poet for the Essex County College Presidential Inauguration. Ms. McEachin currently attends Rutgers University where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in African Studies. Jaleesa is also a member of the Black Organization of Studies (BOS). She has also traveled many places using her poetry as a tool to uplift communities across New Jersey.

I have been truly inspired by this young lady because of her motivation to make a difference in her community. She continues to strive for excellence throughout her education, being a mother, poet, motivational speaker etc. I love seeing young woman challenge themselves to better than what society say they should be or encourage them not to work to their full potential. I enjoy speaking with her several times a week to see what she is up to and what is her next project. I am so happy that I met such an extraordinary young lady. She gives me hope than young African American women would cultivate on their dreams and carry them out. If you need to contact her for a poetry engagement or anything you may need a speaker you can feel free to contact her @ 862-237-8338. Also please continue to visit her page and drop a few lines. The page will continue to grow as more people become aware. Thank you. As a quote from " If any female feels she need anything beyond herself to legitimate and validate her existence, she is already giving away her power to be self-defining, her agency (Hooks)
